Overview
Tsum Valley trek stands out as an extraordinary and secluded trekking destination in Nepal. Unlike the Manaslu trekking region, which opened for trekking in 1991, Tsum Valley welcomed tourists in 2008, offering limited information about its wonders. Nestled in the northern Gorkha region of Nepal, the Tsum Valley trek is a divine Himalayan pilgrimage route that unfolds against the stunning backdrop of Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Boudha ranges.
The name "Tsum" itself conveys vibrancy, and this tranquil valley is steeped in ancient art, culture, and religious significance. Inhabitants, predominantly of Tibetan origin, communicate in a unique dialect. The trails meander through the landscape adorned with artistic chortens and mani walls, composed of thousands of stone slabs intricately carved with depictions of deities and adorned with inscribed prayers.
The Tsum Valley is a haven for wildlife, boasting the presence of Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep in herds ranging from 50 to 200. Notably, the valley strictly prohibits hunting and fishing. The region is dotted with distinctive and historical monasteries, such as Rachen Gumba and Mu Gumba, nestled on a picturesque plateau within the valley's embrace. Additionally, Gumba Lungdang graces the base of a conical hill, harmonizing with the main slope of Ganesh Himal. Immerse yourself in the unique allure of Tsum Valley, where nature, culture, and spirituality converge in a breathtaking Himalayan panorama.

Following a hearty breakfast, you'll receive a briefing about the full day city sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. The tour will take you to significant cultural sites, starting with Swoyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus situated atop a hill in Kathmandu. The journey continues to Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world, revered by Buddhists globally. The tour concludes at Pashupatinath, a major sacred pilgrim site for Hindus worldwide. All three sites are UNESCO World Heritage-listed. After the tour, return to the hotel, rest, and prepare for the trek beginning the next day.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (900m/2952ft): Distance: 160 Km, Duration: 9 Hours

January 11, 2024If you are looking for the best guide and porter for trekking in the Himalayas, I highly recommend Guide Service Nepal!!
We did an 18-day hike to Gokyo... read more Lakes and Everest Base Camp.
Our guide waited on us hand and foot, and did everything in his power to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We never lifted a finger!
Over 18 days we witnessed many interactions between other guides and their clients along the trek. Of course all the guides are nice, but it was clear that our guide was a cut above the rest. He didn’t just accompany us, he anticipated our needs before we even realized them ourselves, and went above and beyond to accommodate any requests we had. His enthusiasm and genuine care for our well-being made us feel like family.
Thank you to the entire team at Guide Service Nepal for making our Everest Base Camp trek an experience we’ll cherish forever!Kevin & Amanda
